The main role of English as a Second Language (ESL) or Additional Language (EAL) is to equip students to
cope successfully with the mainstream curriculum. At RGS, we have specially trained English teachers to help
students who are not yet proficient in English. The programme helps students in one or more of the 4 skills
- reading, writing, listening and speaking. These students are grouped within their grade levels and, as best
as can be arranged within the schedule, according to their abilities. This support is being used extensively
amongst our international students from Thailand, Korea and other South Asian communities.
